Link Up and Have Fun With Glogster January 29, 2008

Filed under: Life — News Writer @ 1:07 pm

I just spent the last few minutes making a glog over at Glogster. I thought I would end up spending longer, but it’s pretty fast. The account took about a minute to set up, and then the page is super-quick to build. You can find mine by clicking on http://bloggrrl.glogster.com/glog.

I found some people over there who are very, very gifted. It is crazy that something so simple to use can produce things like this:

Wow.

You can put pictures, videos, text bubbles, audio, graphics and backgrounds in your Glog. There is something else very special that you can put in it. You can put links to your blog in your pictures!!! Click on my photo of the Froot Loops and you’ll see what I mean. Cool. Since it is more of a social networking site than a graphics site, you can share your Glog (with link!) with lots of friends. Soon, you should have some new friends on your blog. I can see how “Glogging” could be the perfect complement to blogging…

Here’s how you start out. First of all, you register. As I said, this does not take long. Thankfully, the people who made the registration page aren’t interested in your address and what kind of deodorant you wear. Notice how there are iPods to be won… :-)

Then, immediately after the confirmation email, you’re ready to create your own Glog. It’s pretty self-explanatory, and fun to play with.

Once you finish making your Glog, you can choose to make it public. Then it’s fun to go and browse the categories. Here are some. If you look closely, you can see mine under “WTF”?

You also have the option of viewing the most recent Glogs, the most popular (you can rank them), tags and people. It’s a very interactive site, and it is so much easier to integrate video and images into a cohesive page than any other application I’ve found.

So, go play!

6 Great WordPress Themes for Valentine’s Day January 27, 2008

Filed under: Love, Metablogging — News Writer @ 12:08 am

Maybe your significant other is a moron who claims that “Valentine’s Day is over-commercialized, and I can give you a gift any day of the year”. While this is true, I have found out, the hard way, that the “any day of the year” part never comes with these types. At any rate, you can always grab yourself a free WordPress theme that’s as pretty as any flowers and won’t put on the pounds like chocolate. Here are six that I found that are pretty sweet.

Of course, when it comes to pink blogs, I think I’ll stick with what I have. :-)

Oooh La La, Check Out the Bra January 25, 2008

Are you still wondering what you should get your significant other for Valentine’s Day? Or wondering what you want for yourself? How about purchasing some truly
fine lingerie? You can definitely tell the difference between the good stuff and the cheap stuff, and a gift like this one can benefit both the giver and the receiver. I love the Conturelle Harmonie bra pictured above, because it looks very innocent, like something someone picking flowers half-dressed in the countryside might wear. You know. A girl can dream.

Here’s one that’s not quite as innocent. I like the bras featured in Bits of Lace’s
Prima Donna Bra line. Nice, right?

The thing is, if you are going to buy someone else a bra, you had better be darn sure you are buying the right size. Go look in a drawer and check out a tag! Don’t ever just guess. The results could be painful and bulgy. And if you’re a woman dropping hints, perhaps you should leave one hanging to dry for a while in the bathroom. You, know, make it easy.

Fortunately, regardless of what size bra is to be purchased, Bits of Lace has it. An added bonus is that you get free shipping on orders over $50. Since $50 is not very much to spend on the love of your life, that should not be a problem. Elegant gift wrapping is offered as well, for those who are either too busy or scissor-challenged to do it themselves.
