How to Get Rid of a Toothache–?? January 5, 2008

Filed under: Life — News Writer @ 12:17 am

In true Bloggrrl tradition, I will share with you my research for my most current problem–a toothache that arrives every day around four o’clock and stays until midnight or so. I’m beginning to lose my mind. Anyway, here are some things that you can do about toothache pain, besides going to the dentist of course. (I really wish I hadn’t dropped my dental insurance….)

    1. Rub some clove oil on the area around the tooth.

    2. Put an icepack over the area.

    3. Meditate.

    4. Dissolve an aspirin near the site of the pain. Can cause mouth ulcers, however.

    5. Alternating Tylenol with Advil–2 every two hours.

Actually, I’m not convinced it’s a tooth. It shouldn’t be, because my last check-up was fine. The pain seems like it is in my jaw and runs down the side of my face, up the side of my head and into my mouth. It sucks. I hope it’s not this horrible problem, although after taking this test it seems like there’s a pretty good chance. Ack. If so, it turns out that it is triggered by stress.

Stupid stress.

You forgot copious amounts of whiskey. Always works for my toothaches!

Some people say that you can ease the pain by scratching yourself, tapping on your arm, eating spicy food, etc. The idea is that your brain and nerves cannot handle (or focus on) that many pains at the same time, so manually creating pain in another spot will help relieve what you don’t want to experience.
